The Bowen Technique
The Bowen Technique is a very gentle, subtle and relaxing hands-on therapy which treats the ‘whole’ of you and can address many health issues as it aims to rebalance the whole body system from muscular to nervous and even hormonal.
Although gentle enough to use on newborn babies with infant colic, Bowen is powerful enough to be used by Premier football clubs for sporting injuries and was also used on athletes in the Olympic games.
The treatment can be performed on the skin or through light clothing and is suitable for adults, children including newborn babies and the elderly. There is no manipulation or adjustment and the Client is left to rest between moves to allow the body to assimilate the information. Bowen has been reported to affect a number of factors including quality of sleep, mood elevation, general relaxation, ability to concentrate and focus and an increase in energy levels.
Initially, 3-4 sessions are recommended to help the body re-set the negative patterns held although relief is regularly felt immediately and most cases respond within 48 hours, chronic conditions may take longer than the average 4 sessions and treatment plans are decided on physical assessment. Many clients with busy and demanding lifestyles use Bowen as a means of stress management and general health maintenance seeing their Bowen therapist 2 to 4 times per year.
